The Feuerstein: holidays at our 5-star family hotel in the South Tyrolean Alps

Source of power,
Source of happiness

A holiday at the Feuerstein is a fulfilling experience.

For grown-ups. For the little ones. And all together.

At the head of the Pflerschtal valley, the clocks appear to stop ticking. Embraced by the South Tyrolean Alps, our 5-star family hotel is a place of power where nature can be felt everywhere and at all times. Set amidst forests, waterfalls and towering mountain peaks, our resort is a harmonious place which provides space to develop and relax.

Family is our top priority. With us, everyone can be for themselves or spend time with their loved ones. This is precisely the philosophy that our hosts and staff embrace when they welcome you. Everything can be, nothing must be.

The hosts at the 5-star family hotel Feuerstein in the South Tyrolean Alps

Your hosts: the Mader family

Peter Mader is not a classic hotelier, which is probably why the concept of the Feuerstein is that special. Formerly a plumber, he now successfully runs several businesses. Yet the Feuerstein is the project closest to his heart, to which he dedicates himself with all of his soul. Along with his wife Sarah and his daughters, he is constantly reinventing the very magic of the family holiday.

"For me, the Feuerstein is a place of power where families can slow down and recharge their batteries."

Wonderful people for your holiday bliss: the Feuerstein family team

What's the most beautiful thing about starting a holiday? This feeling of having arrived and being part of a big family. 24 hours a day, we are there to ensure that your experience with us is worry-free and unforgettable. This is our mission.

Walter Ferro
Vice Director

Walter, our vice-director, looks back on a great experience in the hotel industry and gastronomy. Born at the Lago Maggiore, he worked for many years in Austria, Germany and Italy and has now been living in South Tyrol for more than 30 years. For him, it is most important that our guests can thoroughly enjoy their holidays at the Feuerstein. This is where he and Werner both pull in the same direction. In private life, he enjoys spending time with his family, hiking and running.

Margit Haller
Head of Marketing & Press Relations

Working on social media, writing press releases, website editing, establishing partnerships: our Head of Marketing is always striving to create new wow-moments for our guests. Margit, who after graduating worked in a consulting and marketing agency with a special focus on the hotel industry, understands the importance of innovation and ongoing development, which is why she constantly stays on top of her game.

Klaus Mayr
Service Manager

Gastronomy runs through his veins: our Klaus inherited the passion for hospitality from his parents. A passion, that he has also passed on to his daughters. He enjoys interacting with people of all types and the privilege of being part of designing their holidays is what most inspires him. The liveliness and laughter of the children are what turn the Feuerstein into the perfect working place for Klaus, a family man through and through. But what else makes his heart skip a beat? Scaling the mountains by bike or working on his beloved old-timers in order to take a ride along steep mountain roads.

Nadine Hochrainer
Mountain Spa Manager

Nadine possesses this unique instinct for people and their needs. Which spa treatment is the most suitable one? Which massage suits you best after a long tour in the mountains? Nadine knows exactly how to apply the carefully selected organic cosmetics to unfold all of their benefits. The kind-hearted South Tyrolean assists you with her extensive expertise - let her be your guide and you'll realise: she truly loves her job. Together with her team, she creates a programme of well-being which she tailors to individual needs and benefits the whole family.

Alexander Mair
Maintenance

If it wasn't for our Alexander, things would only work half as well at the Feuerstein! The technician with his ever-watchful eye ensures that the electrical lines, the ventilation shafts, the lifts, taps and much more are all in perfect condition. Testing, inspecting, fixing: Alexander has a knack for (almost) everything! True to his motto “the path is the goal”, he goes a long way not only in problem solving, but also on his travels and hikes in the South Tyrolean mountains.

Werner Prechtl
General Manager

His enthusiasm for his profession and his many years of experience in gastronomy are what characterises his skills as general manager of the Feuerstein Nature Family Resort. Born in Sterzing/Vipiteno, he always cares about the well-being of his guests and staff - a fact that you can clearly perceive in all of his actions. Werner finds his balance in nature and as a qualified hiking guide, he regularly accompanies our guests to discover the most beautiful trails in the surrounding area.

Janina Tötsch
Head of Reception

Janina is your contact person when it comes to requests, reservations or other matters. Her top priority? Seeing happy and satisfied guests at the reception desk! She always finds quick solutions and never fails to smile. On top of that, she manages a team of 20. No surprise, as she has already worked for many years behind several reception desks in the Wipptal valley. During her spare time, the nature lover enjoys working in her garden or spending time with her friends over a great meal and a delicious glass of wine.

Tina Marcelli
Chef

She is creative, innovative and yet firmly rooted in the region - all of which also applies to her dishes. Chef Tina is a cook who enjoys creating unconventional dishes filled with boundless passion and devotion. As much as possible, she only uses regional and seasonal ingredients, whilst fresh herbs are an essential part of her cuisine. Tina is a master of her craft and, together with her mostly female kitchen team, she creates some real artistic delights which are not only a feast for the eyes but – above all – for the palate.

Florian Teissl
Head of Childcare

Imaginative, a fan of Maria Montessori, footballer, choir singer; trumpet player and… himself somewhat of a child: Florian is witty, active and his enthusiasm and love of adventure contagiously inspire little guests at the Feuerstein. Our long-standing Head of Childcare interiorized the educational principles while attending the pedagogical high school of Brixen/Bressanone and subsequently studying at the Free University of Bolzano. Today he designs the children's programme primarily according to the concept of Maria Montessori: "Perceive, learn and understand".

Claudia Gogl
Administration Officer

When it comes to numbers, data, facts, finances and resources, she is our go-to expert: a native of Pflersch/Fleres, Claudia is in charge of our administration. In other words, she oversees incoming and outgoing payments, monitors all processes and manages the budget. She may mostly be a background character, but without Claudia, things would not work at the Feuerstein. Graduated in economics from the University of Innsbruck, she thrives on challenges and is always keen to broaden her horizons. Thus, she regularly educates herself further and contributes her expertise. The mountains of the Pflerschtal valley are her source of recreation, where she can be found exploring the outdoors with her dogs.

Brigitta Holzner
Decorator and meditation expert

She is the calming influence and source of creativity at the Feuerstein. She loves nature and possesses a keen eye for harmonious arrangements. Brigitta is a warm-hearted person that we would never want to miss having around. No one else designs small and large pieces of art from natural materials as lovingly and devotedly as Brigitta in order to present the Feuerstein at its best by creating a cosy and home-like atmosphere. Our guests are also truly blessed to enjoy Brigitta's company. Don't miss out on her meditation sessions!

Yesteryear, today & tomorrow

A good story requires the right elements: a brave hero, a sense for the future, a pinch of entrepreneurial spirit and, above all, commitment to all what is to come.

Practising
and living
sustainability

For the future of our children

The Feuerstein is immersed in nature, the very basis of our being. Where else, if not in a family hotel, should sustainability be more embraced? Therefore, we jointly assume responsibility and act accordingly - in all aspects!
